Born into a musical family in Warsaw, Poland, Erika Dobosiewicz graduated with honors from Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin University Of Music (FCUM), she later did her Graduate work at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Ghent, Belgium.
Once she had decided that the violin would become her life’s passion, Ms. Dobosiewicz entered the “Tadeusz Wronski” Competition for Solo Violin in Warsaw in 1990; this was followed by her performances in the 10th and 11th Wieniawski International Competitions in 1991 and 1996, respectively, being named a Laureate Winner, and finally, in her taking First Place honors in the First International “Henryk Szeryng” Violin Competition in Toluca, Mexico in 1992. As a soloist and with chamber music groups, she has given concerts in Europe, Japan, South America and Canada.
Like wise she has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Jorge Mester, Enrique Bátiz, Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Howard Shelley, Marco Parisotto, among others. Erika Dobosiewicz has called Mexico her home for the past several years, and it is in this country in which she has developed an intense professional activity.
She has given recitals and has performed as concerto soloist in Mexico’s principal concert venues, with such orchestras as the Mexico City Philharmonic.
